Please read the letter below written for parents of accelerated students:

September 2023

Dear Families, 
Your student is currently enrolled in an advanced or accelerated ELA or Math class.  Eligibility for these courses requires strong work habits, dedication to learning, and demonstrated academic proficiency beyond their current grade level standards.  We
are proud of our partnership with Morris Hills Regional School District (MHRD) and the ability to offer accelerated middle school and honors high school level classes at
Valleyview.  To maintain the integrity of these high quality programs it is essential that
our students work hard and show their academic talents.  One of the criteria for your student to remain on the current pathway is to demonstrate proficiency or advanced proficiency on the NJSLA and/or District Benchmark correlated to your child’s course placement.  Should your child not meet this requirement, they may be required to
repeat the course.  This aligns with MHRD guidance and best practice to ensure
attainment of key ELA and Math skills prior to high school.  Your student should be
proud of their accomplishments and we are confident they will continue to be
successful on their academic journey.
